Ms. McCarty joined GSRC in 2006 as a forest and wildlife biologist. Her main responsibilities include researching and preparing biological/environmental reports, participating in field studies, permitting, and document review. Ms. McCarty has field experience in Arkansas, Arizona, California, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas. She has participated in numerous field surveys for protected species and wetlands.
Shanna provides assistance to clients regarding environmental compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act, the Federal Endangered Species Act Section 7, the Migratory Bird Treaty Act (MBTA), Clean Water Act Sections 404 and 401, Rivers and Harbors Act Section 10, the Coastal Zone Management Act, numerous Executive Orders, and other state and local mandates. She is versed in California Environmental Quality Act analyses including addressing significance thresholds and drafting mitigation measures.
Shanna has worked on several controversial and widespread environmental compliance projects. She has supported and co-directed environmental impact assessment, alternatives analysis, and permitting processes for a variety of proposed projects including: water transport expansion (lock), alternative housing programs, flood control, communication tower systems, construction, transfer and reuse of buildings, and revegetation and bank stabilization. Shanna has directed bird and tree surveys to comply with the MBTA and local ordinances and has prepared and secured permits to relocate migratory birds.
Ms. McCarty received a Master of Science Degree in Forestry -- Quantitative Silviculture, from Louisiana State University. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Forestry from Northern Arizona University.
