Carl Welch
Archaeologist / Historical Preservationist

| Mr. Welch joined GSRC in 2004. He has over 7 years of experience in Archeology and Cultural Resources Management. He has experience excavating Late Archaic Paleolithic and Middle Archaic sites in Texas, excavating Native American gravesites, locating, excavating and recording Paleolithic sites in Texas, and working in the field of forensic archeology. Mr. Welch has conducted approximately 10 Phase I, 35 Phase II, and 15 Phase III archeological site investigations in New Jersey, Louisiana, Texas, and Arizona. He has experience in both prehistoric and historic site evaluation and excavation. He has analyzed both historic and prehistoric cultural remains for numerous projects. At GSRC, Mr. Welch also is the manager of our archeological laboratory in charge of cleaning, organizing, and cataloging artifacts excavated from proposed project sites.
Mr. Welch's experience working with governmental agencies at the local, state, and federal level has given him a broad knowledge of Section 106 compliance of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) and State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) requirements in the southern and southwestern United States.
Mr. Welch received a Master of Science in Urban Studies and Anthropology (with a Certificate in Historical Preservation) from the University of New Orleans. He also received a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology (with a Minor in History) from the University of New Orleans.
